Kinds of Wishes

From the numerous wishes Make-A-Wish Philippines has granted, there are four major categories of wishes…  I wish to have, I wish to be, I wish to meet and I wish to go.  These are the basic types of wishes.  We do not just give out the wish, we make it an experience the wish child and his/her family will remember.  This is the magic of Make-A-Wish, the wish-granting is a heart warming and memorable experience mixed with joy felt by everyone involved, specially the wish child.

Wish Granting Process

The wish granting process starts when a child is referred to the foundation through a hospital referral or phone in/drop by inquiries.  A highly trained group, the wish referrals committee, interviews potential wish children.  They determine if a child is a candidate for a wish grant by evaluating interviews with the child, the parents/guardian and the attending doctor.  Interviews with potential wish children are conducted with utmost care, this is where the committee extracts the most ardent wish of the child.  From there we start the planning with the wish granting committee, this is where the creativity of volunteers come in, to create a wishgrant that is safe, unforgettable and moving.  This planning is a labor of love, taking in to consideration the wish child, the family, and all the little details that are extracted during the interview.  Once the plan is final and approved, the magic begins.
